The first month of my adventure in Hong Kong is already over – how quickly time flies.
I have settled in very well in my new surroundings, certainly thanks to having my own flat, the ever-closer contact with work colleagues and the growing workload.
In the first few weeks, I tried to learn as much as possible from my supervisors and colleagues. Now I try my hand at sales myself and literally go hunting for new customers and business. How do I generate new customers and shipments? A good source is my colleagues at work. They already know various companies and can give me this information so that I can contact them. Another good source is, for example, existing customers from Switzerland. I have been in contact with one of these customers for a long time and recently got the contacts of the suppliers in Asia.
You can also register with various organisations in Asia that organise monthly networking events. By participating, you always expand your own network and also get new customers. In the meantime, I have registered with two such organisations and will participate in various events in the coming weeks and try to make new contacts there.
Apart from work, I am often on the road and explore different parts of Hong Kong. As you can see in the picture above, Hong Kong has a lot to offer. For example, there is a horse racing track in the middle of the city. Hong Kong has a total of two racecourses. Next to the building where I live, there are other high-rise buildings, these have between 50-70 floors (not for people with a fear of heights).
Recently my parents from Switzerland visited me for four days, it was a very nice time and finally I got a little ration of things from home again.
We also had a long Easter weekend in Hong Kong, where I was able to relax for a while. Unlike in Switzerland, the shops and shopping malls are still open. However, it is advisable not to go, as many other people had the same idea. I used the time to spruce up my flat and meet up with friends.
In the coming weeks I will be out and about a lot, attending networking events, besides which I already have the first client appointments, where I will present our company and services.
Updates to follow…
